Oily Wastewater Pretreatment at a Meat Processing Plant in Henan

2026-10-15

Project at a Glance. Wastewater was generated by meat thawing, sterilization and cleaning of production areas and equipment. The complete treatment train consisted of oil separation, flocculation and flotation, UASB treatment, contact oxidation, secondary clarification and disinfection.

Treatment Approach. OWT was applied at the flotation stage after the oil-separation step to improve removal of residual emulsified and dispersed oil.

Reported Outcome. The source reports that oil concentration was approximately 500 ppm after the oil separator and below 15 ppm after OWT-assisted treatment, corresponding to a reported removal rate above 90%. The final discharge result was produced by the entire treatment train and should not be attributed to OWT alone.
